SEARCH DESCRIPTIONS

- Name Availability Search:
By performing this search, you can tell if the name you propose
to use is currently in use, reserved, or registered by a
corporation, limited liability company, or limited partnership
filed with the secretary of state.
- Find-Entity:
By performing this search, you will retrieve information on
active, as well as inactive, corporations, limited liability
companies, limited partnerships, registered limited liability
partnerships, out-of-state financial institutions, certain Texas
financial institutions, and unincorporated nonprofit associations
that currently use or have used the name you searched.
- Find-Supplemental:
This search will retrieve only active and inactive assumed names,
trademarks, and the names of associated entities matching the name
you have searched.
- Find-Global:
This search will include all the information retrieved by a Find
and a Find Supplemental search.
- Find-Assumed Name:
This search will retrieve only active and inactive assumed names
matching the name searched.
- Find-People:
This search will retrieve a list of corporations, limited liability
companies, and limited partnerships for which a person by the name
searched has been listed as a managing person. In the case of a
corporation, a managing person is an officer or director. In the
case of a limited liability company, a managing person is a manager
or a managing member. In the case of a limited partnership, a managing
person is a general partner. This search also will retrieve a list of
entities for which a person by the name searched is listed as the last
known designated agent for service of process.
- Find-Registered Agent:
This search will retrieve a list of corporations, limited liability
companies, limited partnerships, foreign limited liability partnerships,
foreign and Texas financial institutions, and unincorporated nonprofit
associations for which a person by the name searched is listed as the
last known designated agent for service of process.
- Filing Number Search:
A search by filing number will retrieve the business organization, name
reservation, or name registration assigned the number searched. The
filing number is the unique 10-digit number assigned by the secretary
of state to each business organization, name registration, or name
reservation filed with the secretary of state. If you are unsure of
the filing number, you may wish to perform a Find Entity search by
entity name.
- FEIN Search:
The federal employer identification number (FEIN) is a 9-digit number
assigned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). A search by FEIN
will retrieve the business organization identified by the number searched.
- TID Search:
The taxpayer identification number (TID) is an 11-digit number
assigned by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. A search by
TID will retrieve the business organization identified by the number
searched.
- Document Number Search:
A search by document number will retrieve the business organization
that has filed the document assigned the number searched. A document
number is assigned by the secretary of state to each document submitted
to, received by, and filed with the secretary of state.
- Registered Agent activity past 60 days:
This search produces the names of entities that have designated the
individual or company searched as the entity's registered agent for
service of process within 60 days of the search date.
